Unveiling the Mechanisms of Star Formation Quenching in Nearby Galaxies: Insights from the ALMaQUEST Survey

Hsi-An Pan

ABSTRACT :
Understanding how star formation ceases in galaxies can reveal the factors that dictate their life cycles and the transition from active star-forming systems to quiescent ones. In this talk, I will discuss where and how star formation quenches in nearby galaxies, focusing on molecular content and how quenching behavior impacts the well-known star formation scaling relations previously established by normal star-forming galaxies. The presentation will highlight the latest results from the ALMaQUEST (ALMA-MaNGA QUEnching and STar formation) survey.
