KASI engineers are participating in a development program to increase mapping speed of the total power array in mosaicking for future ALMA instrumentation expected in 2020s. Current approach is to adopt conventional focal plane array concept to get sky distribution from a feed horn array located at an effective focal plane of a telescope. As a prototype, we have proposed to work on development of ASTE focal plane array system, which will be supposed to cover over 45% fractional bandwidth that combines the current ALMA band 7 and band 8 frequencies partially. 4-year development for ASTE FPA system is projected with close collaboration among the partners of ALMA-EA consortium.
Korean ARC Node is to provide support service to the ALMA user community in Korea
